All Hetalia and history fans should watch this. Absolutely amazing.

New Hetalia Headcanon??

“The characters are actually not personifications of different countries, but drunken college roommates who decided to reenact history for the hell of it.”

They were really preparing for a huge history test (with great enthusiasm mind that), but got drunk instead when they decided to linger away from their studies. They are foreign students playing the role of their country, imagining how he/she must have been like.

From this post.

This is the story of amelia pond: Whoa there Hetalia cosplayers. May I tell you guys something? Yes?…

Whoa there Hetalia cosplayers.

May I tell you guys something? Yes? Thank you.

  • Do not, and I mean DO NOT EVER let a country’s flag touch the floor or get dirty. That is really disrespectful.
  • Remember you’re representing the Hetalia fandom.
  • Do not touch someone if they don’t give you…

Persia is what the West called me!

((I consider Iran to be the personification of the tributary state, Arianna, of the Medes, Arya of the Achaemenid empire, Aryashahr of the Parthian empire, and Eranshahr of the Sassanid empire all the way to the modern Islamic Republic, on the basis that I do not consider the Islamic conquest of Iran to be a point of separation from “Ancient Persia” to “Modern Iran”, as many like to use the terms “Persia” and “Iran” to delineate the two. “Persia” is the Latin form of the Greek word “Persis”, which in turn, is the Hellenized form of the original Persian name for the region of Pars, the Iranians of antiquity and onward have always referred to their own country as “Iran” in various forms, as I’ve listed already. Why I disagree with Iran becoming a “separate” entity from the ancient Iranian empires because of the Islamic conquest is, while other peoples like the Egyptians and the Assyrians [and the modern day Maghreb—North Africa—as well, though there is also the politics of identity due to the distinction between the indigenous Amazigh and the Arabs of the Maghreb] assimilated and underwent “Arabization”, Iranians maintained their cultural and linguistic integrity to an extent. Of course, it must be remembered that the Arabs and Iranians did have a mutual cultural exchange, but Iranians still maintained themselves and their cultural heritage, even during persecution and suppression under Caliphates such as the Umayyads and the independent kingdoms that divided Iran during this period. Iran was less of a united “state” as it was a fluid and enduring cultural and linguistic entity. Admittedly it is a pet peeve of mine how the West continues to insist upon the usage of “Persia” as the official name of ancient Iran and as a nostalgic, colonialist, and harmfully Orientalist name for monarchical Iran because of the 1979 revolution’s polarizing nature, a nature that conflicted with the diplomatic and economic bonds between the Shah’s regime and the West. It is also this fetishization of “Persia” and “Persian” [in ethnic terms] that continues to contribute to Persian ethnocentricism [most notably in the Iranian diaspora], racism, and modern discourse of Iranian nationalism, as the residual idea of “Iraniness” equating with “Persianness” as perpetuated by the Pahlavi regime is still deeply set in this discourse. Although mainstream Iranian culture has a dominant element of Persian culture, Iran, in the entirety of its history, has never been homogenous and is home to many native non-Persian Iranian ethnicity and religious minorities [Gilanis, Lors, Balochs, Mazandaranis, Bakhtiaris, Turkomen, Parsim [Iranian Jews] etc] BUT THAT IS A LECTURE FOR ANOTHER TIME, I’ve already gone on too long let us move on

so yes, Iran is like China in this sense! I consider Elam and Media as separate entities as well [though both are Iranic peoples]. I’ve depicted Iran here under the Medes, as Achaemenid Iran, and Sassanid Iran because Sassanid Cataphracts are awesome, I skipped over Parthian Iran but here have a doodle))
